PH Red Cross to deploy over 1,200 personnel, volunteers for Traslacion 2026

The Philippine Red Cross (PRC) will deploy 1,261 personnel and volunteers for the annual Feast of Jesus Nazareno in Manila City on Friday, January 9, to respond to medical-related emergencies during the Traslacion.

In a press briefing on Wednesday, PRC chairman Richard Gordon said manpower will be assigned at 17 first aid stations and 17 welfare desks near the route of the Traslacion, or the procession of the image of Jesus Nazareno.

The PRC will deploy 17 first aiders on wheels, 12 scooters for roving, 19 ambulance services on the ground, 20 standby ambulances, two rescue boards, and three rubber boats for water rescue.

A 50-bed emergency field hospital will be established, along with 60 medical personnel for possible mass casualty incidents and minor to moderate cases.

The hospital will be located at the Kartilya ng Katipunan Monument beside the Manila City Hall.

Eight PRC chapters and eight PRC branches in the National Capital Region will also be ready to assist in emergency cases during the annual procession.

The PRC urged the public to write their personal details and medical condition on a piece of paper in case of an emergency.

Traslacion participants may also download the PRC's emergency info card.

For a safe and orderly Traslacion, devotees were urged to follow the reminders and directives of Quiapo Church and authorities. — VDV, GMA Integrated News
