17-year-old mom nabbed for trying to sell baby online for P55K

Authorities nabbed a 17-year-old mother for attempting to sell her one-month-old baby for P55,000.

According to Jun Veneracion’s Thursday report on “24 Oras,” the mother was arrested after having a transaction with a buyer who turned out to be police officers from the Philippine National Police (PNP) Women and Children Protection Center.

Authorities monitored that the mother was looking for someone to adopt her baby on social media.

They found that the mother planned to use the money she earned from selling her baby to cover the tuition fees she had already spent.

However, the police doubt her reason since the mother already had a transaction with someone from Japan even before giving birth.

Earnest money was also already given to the mother.

She will face charges for violating the Anti-Trafficking in Persons Act, which has a maximum penalty of life imprisonment.

Authorities are also investigating whether the 18-year-old father is an accomplice.

The rescued baby and her mother are under the custody of social workers.

GMA Integrated News is seeking comment from the mother.

The PNP Women and Children Protection Center raised alarm over the increasing number of babies for sale.

Five babies were rescued in 2024 and eight in 2025.
