More than 100k Nazareno devotees attended Misa Mayor – Manila PIO
More than 100,000 Catholic faithful and devotees of the Jesus Nazareno attended the Misa Mayor or midnight Mass at the Quirino Grandstand prior to the start of this year’s Traslacion, the Manila Public Information Office said on Friday.
In a Facebook post, the Manila PIO cited data from the Manila Police District (MPD) and the Innovation Integrated GIS and Data Hub of the Manila Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (DRRMO) in coming up with the crowd estimate.
As of 5:05 a.m., the Manila PIO said the andas carrying the image of the Jesus Nazareno was along Padre Burgos Avenue going towards Finance Road.
The andas carrying the image left the Quirino Grandstand at 4 a.m., officially starting the Traslacion. The Traslacion is one of the activities for the Feast of Jesus Nazareno, which is often attended by millions of Nazareno devotees.
