Free WiFi launched in EDSA Busway stations
The Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) on Thursday launched free WiFi in busway stations along the Epifanio de los Santos Avenue (EDSA) in partnership with the Department of Transportation (DOTr).
Under the Free Wi-Fi for All program, commuters of the EDSA Busway will be given WiFi connections of 40 to 60 megabits per second (Mbps) of free internet in 17 stations.
The services are available in the following stations: Balintawak, Kaingin, Fernando Poe Jr., SM North EDSA, North Avenue, PhilAm QC, Quezon Avenue, Kamuning, Nepa Q-Mart, Main Avenue, Ortigas, Buendia, Ayala, One Ayala, Tramo, Taft Avenue, and Roxas Boulevard.
"Ang basic services tulad ng transport at internet connectivity ay dapat sabay na umuunlad, dahil sa panahon ngayon, ang internet ay hindi na luho, kailangan na ito sa araw-araw na buhay ng Pilipino," DICT Secretary Henry Aguda said.
(Basic services such as transport and internet connectivity should develop in tandem because during these times, the internet is no longer a luxury, it is already a necessity in the daily lives of Filipinos.)
The DOTr earlier said three additional stations of the EDSA Busway are scheduled to be completed this year: Cubao, Magallanes, and the Parañaque Integrated Terminal Exchange (PITX). — VDV, GMA Integrated News
