2 loaded magazines intercepted at NAIA, says OTS

Two loaded magazines were confiscated from a passenger bound for Hanoi, Vietnam, the Office for Transportation Security (OTS) reported.

Security Screening Officers (SSOs) intrcepted the items from a passenger who was to board Vietnam Airlines Flight No. VN 646 at Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 1 on Tuesday, January 20, 2026.

X-ray operator SSO Roberto Martos noticed a suspicious image in the passenger’s carry-on baggage during routine security screening procedure.

The OTS said, in a statement, that Martos immediately alerted baggage inspector SSO Jennifer Garcia about the situation.

A manual inspection was conducted, with the passenger’s consent, in the presence of a Philippine National Police Aviation Security Group (PNP AVSEGROUP) officer and an airline representative.

The inspection yielded two pieces of loaded magazines containing twenty-four pieces of live ammunition.

"The incident was properly documented, and the confiscated items were endorsed to the PNP AVSEGROUP for appropriate action and disposition. The passenger was later allowed to board his flight after presenting appropriate documentation," the OTS said. — BAP, GMA Integrated News
