LTO summons vlogger in viral road rage incident in Pasay City
The Land Transportation Office (LTO) has issued a show cause order (SCO) against a vlogger who went viral for allegedly losing his cool during a road rage incident in Pasay City.
In a statement, the LTO said the SCO stemmed from a viral video which showed the vlogger’s vehicle accelerating and refusing to let the other vehicle overtake him.
Upon reaching a stoplight, the vlogger alighted from his vehicle and knocked on the window of another vehicle.
A report on “Saksi” on Monday night said the vlogger uttered unsavory words directed at the other driver and allegedly hit the other vehicle's window, leading to an argument.
The LTO ordered the vlogger to appear before its Intelligence and Investigation Division (IID) on January 29 at 1 p.m. and submit a verified comment or explanation on why he should not be held liable for reckless driving and for being ain improper person to operate a motor vehicle.
The LTO issued a 90-day preventive suspension on the driver’s license of the vlogger while his vehicle was placed under an LTO alarm.
(We will not let the lack of discipline and arrogance reign in our roads. This incident is not just against traffic rules, but also poses a grave danger to the safety of all road users.)
(The LTO is determined to implement the law fairly but firmly to show that no one is above regulations for safe and orderly driving.)
The “Saksi” report added that the other motorist in the altercation will be also summoned by the LTO. — JMA, GMA Integrated News
