Authorities have apprehended a car agent identified as a person of interest in the case involving the deaths of a policewoman and her son.

National Capital Region Police Office chief Police Major General Anthony Aberin said the car agent and her husband, a dismissed police officer, were apprehended in Quezon City, GMA Integrated News' Jhomer Apresto reported early Saturday morning.

On January 24, Police Senior Master Sergeant Diane Marie Mollenido, 38, was found dead in a creek in Pulilan, Bulacan, with a gunshot wound to the head. Six days later, her eight-year-old son, John Ysmael, was found at a calamansi farm in Victoria, Tarlac. His father, Police Senior Master Sergeant John Mollenido, positively identified the boy’s body.

Police said Ysmael died due to asphyxia by suffocation.

Diane and Ysmael were last seen on January 16 and were officially reported missing on January 19 by John.

Based on the initial investigation, Diane and Ysmael went missing as they were set to meet a car agent in Quezon City after selling a vehicle.

Police said they would run DNA tests on the victims after bloodstains were found at the agent’s home in Quezon City.  — VBL, GMA Integrated News
