3 suspects arrested in Quezon City over killing of policewoman, son

Law enforcers arrested three suspects in a residential area in Novaliches, Quezon City, in relation to the killing of Police Senior Master Sergeant Diane Marie Mollenido and her eight-year-old son, John Ysmael.

Video footage shared by GMA Integrated News' James Agustin showed authorities entering a gated area and later reading Miranda rights to the collared individuals. The video was taken on Friday evening, January 30.

Mollenido's cellphone, as well as P100,000 cash were retrieved from the house of the suspects, who are live-in partners, according to a "24 Oras Weekend" report by John Consulta.

The report added that the sport utility vehicle (SUV) which was believed to have been used to transport the victims' bodies was found in Pampanga.

Police Captain Dan-Nilo Capili, Station Commander of Station 5, Victoria Police, said the vehicle is undergoing investigation and forensic examination.

One of the suspects positively identified the SUV to have been used to carry the bodies of Mollenido and her son.

"Hindi po ako ang pumatay sa ano.. 'Yung kaibigan ko saka kumpare ko... tapos 'yung asawa niya po. May kasama kami, 'yung kapatid po ng lalaki... Apat po," one of the suspects said.

On January 24, Mollenido, 38, was found dead in a creek in Pulilan, Bulacan with a gunshot wound to the head. Five days later, her eight-year-old son, John Ysmael, was found at a calamansi farm in Victoria, Tarlac.

SOCO thoroughly searched an area in Pulilan using K9 dogs and metal detector for more than four hours to retrieve possible objects used to kill Mollenido.

Police said John Ysmael died due to asphyxia by suffocation.

A separate report early Saturday morning said authorities apprehended a car agent identified as a person of interest in the case involving the deaths of Mollenido and her son.

National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) chief Police Major General Anthony Aberin said the car agent and her husband, a dismissed police officer, were arrested in Quezon City.

A source of GMA Integrated News said the suspects requested Mollenido to bring her car to their residence in Novaliches on January 16.

Mollenido's vehicle found

As this developed, the Philippine National Police (PNP) said the Regional Highway Patrol Unit Cordillera Administrative Region recovered Mollenido's vehicle in Baguio City.

The vehicle was stolen by a couple who were nabbed on Friday night.

According to a report by GMA Integrated News' John Consulta, Mollenido and her son were in the vehicle, which was about to be sold by the policewoman.
