35-year-old tricycle driver shot dead by riding-in-tandem


A 35-year-old tricycle driver was shot dead by suspects riding in tandem along Sta. Barbara Street in Ermita, Manila early Sunday.

According to EJ Gomez’s exclusive report on “24 Oras Weekend,” a witness said the suspects chased the victim while he was aboard his tricycle and fired several shots at him.

The victim collapsed on the road, while his tricycle continued moving before crashing into a traffic island.

The witness added that the victim appeared to have returned fire, indicating a possible exchange of gunfire.

The victim sustained multiple gunshot wounds, and several bullet casings were found scattered at the scene.

A relative later arrived at the crime scene, expressing shock over the incident and saying the family was unsure why the victim was targeted.

Police said there were no closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras in the area. An investigation is ongoing, while authorities have launched a manhunt for the two suspects.—Vince Angelo Ferreras/MCG, GMA Integrated News
