Air compressor issue delays LRT2 ops for nearly 1 hour
The operations of the Light Rail Transit Line 2 (LRT-2) were delayed by almost an hour on Tuesday morning due to a technical problem involving an air compressor in one of its trains at the Araneta-Cubao Station.
According to a report of GMA Integrated News’ James Agustin on Unang Balita, LRT-2 was supposed to begin operations at 5:00 a.m. with passengers already allowed to enter stations.
But passengers were later advised to leave the stations.
LRT Administrator Atty. Hernando Cabrera said the problem was caused by a malfunctioning air compressor, which is used to operate the train’s doors and braking system.
The affected train was brought to the depot for inspection and repairs.
LRT-2 operations resumed at 5:55 a.m. while stations were reopened to passengers at around 6:00 a.m.
The Light Rail Transit Authority (LRTA) issued an apology to commuters, who were on their way to work or school, for the inconvenience.
An investigation is underway to determine the cause of the air compressor failure and to prevent similar incidents in the future.—Joviland Rita/AOL, GMA Integrated News
