Woman convicted of selling 11-day-old baby for ₱50k - DOJ
A Quezon City court has convicted a woman of selling an 11-day-old baby boy for P50,000, according to the Department of Justice (DOJ) on Thursday.
In a statement, the DOJ said that the woman entered a guilty plea to two counts of violation of Republic Act 7610, or the Special Protection of Children Against Abuse, Exploitation, and Discrimination Act.
The Justice Department said the accused engaged in the marketing of children, specifically the sale of the baby, through the “Child Adoption Center Philippines” Facebook group page in January last year.
The Quezon City Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 99 accepted the guilty plea in November 2025.
It sentenced her to six years of imprisonment for each count, to be served successively.
“For the DOJ, every child protected is a victory, and every trafficker or abuser held accountable is a step toward a safer nation for all Filipino children,” it said. —VBL, GMA Integrated News
