30-year-old man shot dead in Tondo

A 30-year-old man was shot dead by an unidentified gunman in Barangay 120 in Tondo, Manila on Sunday early morning.

According to EJ Gomez’s report, CCTV footage showed the suspect, wearing a jacket and ballcap, bumped into the victim at Laurel Street before shooting him.

In another footage, the suspect was seen walking like nothing happened after the incident.

“Sa likuran niya yung tama tapos diretsyo sa ulo,” said Barangay 120 tanod Ronaldo Seludo.

(The gunshot was at the back and it passed through the head.)

The victim’s family is still clueless on who could have killed him. But they admitted the victim is often involved in troubles in their neighborhood.

“Kasi ‘yan dito istambay magdamag. Laman talaga ng kalsada ‘yan…Last kasi, may nakakaaway rin ‘yan,” said Rolando Mirafelix, the victim’s uncle.

(He hangs out here all night. He’s always out on the streets… And recently, he’s been getting into fights with people, too.)

He added the gunman is unlikely to be a resident in their area.

“Wala kaming taga-rito ang bumira, alam ko dayo. Kasi matagal ako sa barangay, kasi kahit nakatalikod yung tao, yung kilala ko…Eh yung tao na ‘yun, hindi namin kilala ‘yun. Hindi talaga taga-rito,” he added.

(None of the residents here did the shooting, I know it was an outsider. I've been in this barangay for a long time, I can recognize people even with their backs turned. But that person? We don't know him. He's definitely not from around here.)

Investigation is still ongoing. Meanwhile, barangay officials and the victim’s family are calling on the suspect to surrender.

“Sumuko ka na lang, kasi may ganti ‘yan,” said Mirafelix.
