4 abandoned parcels in Pasay yield ₱11.76M in high-grade marijuana
Authorities intercepted four abandoned parcels containing P11.76 million in suspected high-grade marijuana or “kush” at the Central Mail Exchange Center (CMEC) in Pasay City, the Philippine National Police (PNP) said on Monday.
In a statement, the PNP said the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Inter-Agency Drug Interdiction Task Group (NAIA-IADITG) conducted its operations from 10:30 a.m. to 4:20 p.m.
Law enforcers discovered approximately 7.84 kilograms of suspected kush concealed along with everyday items such as candies, clothing, comforters, cereals, snack packs, and tin containers.
A K-9 narcotics detection team confirmed the presence of illegal drugs in the parcels.
“This interception demonstrates the importance of vigilance, coordination, and intelligence-driven policing. Every shipment stopped is a victory against criminal networks seeking to harm our society,” said PNP chief Police General Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr.
After inventory, the seized narcotics were turned over to the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) for laboratory analysis and proper disposition.
Authorities are investigating the origins of the abandoned parcels. — JMA, GMA Integrated News
