Carpenters, security guards file complaint vs. cops over alleged police misconduct
A group of carpenters and security guards on Wednesday filed a complaint with the Department of Justice (DOJ) against several police officers of the Dasmariñas City Police District for allegedly arresting them without a warrant.
Lawyer Fatimah Villanueva, their legal counsel, said they are filing a complaint for illegal arrest, arbitrary detention, and perjury.
“Ngayon hihintayin po namin ‘yung sagot ng DOJ after nilang i-evaluate ‘yung complaint namin kung tatanggapin nila dito sa DOJ ‘yung kaso o kailangan namin i-file sa Dasmariñas,” she said in an ambush interview.
(Right now, we’re waiting for the Justice Department to evaluate the complaint and if they will accept it or if we need to file it in Dasmariñas.)
According to the lawyer, the carpenters were invited to the police station on December 21, 2025. They were then arrested upon arriving.
“Around 5 to 6 dumating ‘yung mga pulis doon and then inimbitahan ‘yung mga kliyente namin, mga karpintero, na sumama sa police station and doon bigla na lang sila inaresto,” she said.
(The police officers arrived around 5 to 6 and then our clients, the carpenters, were invited to go with them to the police station. Then they were arrested.)
“Ang sabi lang nung mga pulis ay hindi daw sila dapat nandoon sa lugar na ‘yun (the police only told them that they should not be there),” she added.
Meanwhile, seven security guards were arrested and allegedly claimed they were “hurt” on January 6.
Villanueva later affirmed there was an issue regarding the property’s ownership.
Asked if the guards and carpenters were being evicted, the lawyer said, “yes.”
“Ayaw ko din po mag divulge ng details kasi panibagong kaso po ‘yun. Inuuna lang po muna namin itong para sa mga nanakit sa kanya,” she said.
(I don’t want to divulge the details because there will be another complaint. We are only filing this one first.)
She said the carpenters and guards are also facing a complaint for trespassing. —RF, GMA Integrated News
