Police probing fall of student near LRT-1 along EDSA

A 23-year-old student died after falling near the LRT-1 station along EDSA near Congressional Avenue in Quezon City on Wednesday.

In a report by Glen Juego on Super Radyo dzBB, the Quezon City Police District (QCPD) said they are now coordinating with the Light Rail Manila Corporation (LMRC) and are reviewing available information related to the case.

Authorities are also searching for possible witnesses who may have seen what happened prior to the student’s fall.

The QCPD said this is part of efforts to prevent unfounded speculation and ensure that only verified details are released.

Investigators are also getting a statement from the driver of a vehicle that allegedly ran over the victim after the fall.

According to QCPD Public Information Office chief Major General Jennifer Gannaban, standard protocol requires that the driver be held temporarily to provide testimony.

However, she said it is still too early to determine whether the driver has any liability in the incident.

The investigation remains ongoing, the QCPD added. — Sherylin Untalan/JMA, GMA Integrated News
