More evidence collected from house of suspects in killing of Mollenido, son —QCPD

The Quezon City Police District (QCPD) on Friday said more pieces of evidence were gathered during a search inside the house of two suspects in the killings of Police Senior Master Sergeant Diane Marie Mollenido and her eight-year-old son John Ysmael.

At a press briefing, QCPD chief Police Brigadier General Randy Glenn Silvio said a search warrant was implemented on the house of the car agent and her husband on Thursday.

“Kahapon (Yesterday), February 11, we applied for search warrant and it was implemented,” Silvio said.

“We want to get some of the biological fluids and other traces of evidence like hair strands including roots or follicles suitable for DNA examination, skin tissue, fingernail scrapping, and other biological samples capable of DNA profiling,” he added.

Among the recovered pieces of evidence were:

  • 14 swabbed biological fluid samples with suspected traces of blood
  • eight cut cloth materials with suspected blood traces
  • a tissue paper with suspected blood
  • nine hair strands believed to belong to the victims
  • a cigarette butt
  • five fragments of a styrofoam cooler, which was reportedly used to conceal the firearm during the commission of the crime

These items are set to undergo examination.

Aside from these, two CCTV units were also seized for the investigation, according to the QCPD.

“The recovery of these additional pieces of evidence strengthens our case and will help ensure that the suspects are held fully accountable under the law. We will continue gathering all necessary evidence to ensure justice for the victims,” Silvio said.

On January 24, Diane’s body was found along Pulilan Bypass Road in Barangay Dulong Malabon, Pulilan, Bulacan, with a gunshot wound to the head.

Five days later, on January 29, Ysmael’s body was found at a calamansi farm along a farm-to-market road in Barangay Maluid, Victoria, Tarlac.

The two were killed following a botched car sale transaction in Quezon City on January 16, according to the police.

A complaint for two counts of robbery with homicide and theft has been filed with the Quezon City Prosecutor’s Office against three suspects including the car agent, her partner, and an accomplice.

Another female suspect, the sister of the car agent’s husband, surrendered to authorities.
