1 suspect behind Binondo chop-chop victim arrested, 1 at-large —Pasay police
Authorities have arrested one of two suspects linked to the killing and dismemberment of a male victim whose body parts were found inside a blue drum in Binondo, Manila, according to the Pasay City Police on Wednesday.
At a press briefing, Pasay City Police chief Police Colonel Joselito de Sesto said investigators traced the drum to a condominium unit in his city through CCTV footage and intelligence operations.
Police received the information from the driver and owner of the rented van used to transport the body parts.
“So noong ma-backtrack namin sa CCTV, kasama po siya. So at that time, alas-dos ng madaling araw, inaresto na namin itong POI,” De Sesto.
(So when we backtracked the CCTV, he was there. So at that time, at two in the morning, we arrested this POI.)
Footage captured on February 15 showed a Chinese national, along with a condo security guard he asked for help, pushing the drum from the 15th floor down to the ground level.
Another suspect identified as “Victor” was later seen arriving in a rented white van used to transport the drum.
Due to this, the police arrested Victor while the principal suspect, who is a Chinese national, remains at large, according to De Sesto.
Investigators who inspected the condo unit found bloodstains, cleaning attempts, and body tissue traces inside a bedroom. These indicated that the killing and dismemberment likely took place in the condo unit.
Initial forensic examination of the victim’s body showed multiple stab wounds.
According to the police, the victim is believed to be a Chinese-looking male but his identity has yet to be confirmed. —AOL, GMA Integrated News
