LTFRB issues SCO vs. PUV terminals in 2 QC malls
The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) has issued a show cause order against Public Utility Vehicle (PUV) terminals in two Quezon City malls for subpar services.
According to a statement on Thursday, the PUV terminals in the said malls lacked the necessary facilities to ensure the safety and comfort of commuters.
One terminal was found to lack sufficient roofing and benches for waiting passengers. It also had no clear guideline for trips and dispatching and had no assistance counters.
The second terminal also had no assistance counters, seats, or priority lanes.
Terminal managers for both areas were told to explain why their facilities should not be shut down for their violations and were required to appear at a hearing in March.
“Our message is clear: it is either you step up and fix what needs to be fixed to ensure compliance, or face the consequences for taking for granted the passengers whom you are supposed to serve well,” LTFRB Chairperson Atty. Vigor Mendoza II said.
“This is a nationwide operation and this is a new normal in terms of fighting for the welfare and rights of our commuters,” he added. —VAL, GMA Integrated News
