PNP nabs hit-and-run suspect, seizes gun, shabu

The Philippine National Police (PNP) arrested a man involved in a hit-and-run incident and recovered a gun and illegal drugs in Carmona City, Cavite.

In a statement on Wednesday, the PNP said the suspect's vehicle was involved in a collision with a motorcycle at Barangay Mabuhay around 10:17 p.m. on Saturday.

The suspect initially tried to flee the scene but was intercepted in front of the BPI branch along Governors Drive in Brgy. Maderan in GMA, Cavite.

During the arrest, officers recovered a 9mm handgun with 22 live rounds of ammunition.

They also seized 11 packs of suspected shabu weighing around 75 grams and valued at approximately P510,000, along with a digital weighing scale, a glass tube, and other drug paraphernalia.

“The hit-and-run, combined with the illegal possession of a firearm and drugs, shows how dangerous one person can be to the community. Our officers acted immediately to prevent further harm,” PNP chief Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. said.

“The recovery of the shabu and unlicensed gun during the pursuit highlights the seriousness of the offense. Criminal acts will always meet the full force of the law," he added.—MCG, GMA Integrated News
