LTO summons motorcycle rider in viral road rage incident
The Land Transportation Office (LTO) has summoned the driver of a motorcycle who was captured on camera while angrily confronting and even hurting a pick-up truck driver in a road rage incident.
In a statement on Sunday, the LTO said it issued a show cause order (SCO) against the motorcycle driver whose actions went viral on social media.
The motorcycle driver allegedly blocked the path of the pick-up truck and made an obscene gesture at its driver.
The motorcycle driver also allegedly hit the pick-up truck driver during an argument.
The SCO compelled the registered owner and driver of motorcycle to appear before the LTO’s Intelligence and Investigation Division (IID) on March 11 at 1 p.m. and submit a sworn statement explaining the incident.
The statement should justify why he should not be administratively held liable for reckless driving and obstruction of traffic, and why his driver’s license should not be revoked for being an improper person to operate a motor vehicle.
The driver’s license was placed under preventive suspension for 90 days while the motorcycle was placed under an LTO alarm status.
The respondents may seek the advice of a lawyer on the day of the hearing.
Should the respondents fail to submit their explanation, the LTO will resolve the complaint based on the evidence at hand. — JMA, GMA Integrated News
