Over P140M worth of shabu concealed in mayonnaise, ketchup containers seized

Authorities seized P142.8 million worth of suspected shabu concealed in mayonnaise and ketchup containers during an operation at Barangay Santo Domingo in Quezon City early Wednesday.

According to Jun Veneracion’s report in “Saksi”, the buy-bust operation was jointly conducted by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency’s (PDEA) Special Enforcement Service, PDEA regional office, and Philippine National Police drug enforcement group.

The two high-value targets were caught in the act selling 500 grams of suspected shabu to an agent who pretended to be a buyer.

While authorities searched their van and other items, they discovered 20.5 kilograms of shabu concealed in mayonnaise and ketchup containers.

“It’s impossible that there are only two people working behind this. It seems that they have other accomplices,” said PDEA spokesperson Joseph Frederick Calulut.

Authorities also seized other drug paraphernalia during the operation.

The two arrested suspects refused to give a comment on the matter. They are facing charges in violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. — Vince Angelo Ferreras/BAP, GMA Integrated News
