Cash aid payout for tricycle drivers continues in some NCR cities despite holiday
The Department of Social Welfare and Development's (DSWD) distribution of financial assistance for tricycle drivers amid the massive fuel price hikes caused by the Middle East conflict will continue in some NCR cities on Friday, despite it being Eid'l Fitr, a holiday.
According to Ian Cruz's report on "24 Oras," some tricycle drivers who missed out on the P5,000 cash aid after being left off the list of beneficiaries received theirs on Thursday. However, others in continued to wait for their share of the government cash doles.
“Hindi nila kailangan mangamba kasi bukas may special, may continuous payout pa rin tayo sa Quezon City, so masasama naman sila ulit doon,” DSWD Secretary Rex Gatchalian said.
(Tricycle drivers should not worry since tomorrow, we will have a special, continuous payout in Quezon City, so they will be included there.)
Information from the DSWD showed that there will be payouts as well in Marikina, Parañaque, and Caloocan.
This includes tricycle drivers of the Batasan TODA in Quezon City, who said the financial aid would help them amid the increasing fuel prices.
The DSWD urged tricycle drivers to report on their Facebook page those asking for a processing fee when receiving the cash aid, since it can be claimed for free.
According to the DSWD, they will begin distributing P5,000 in aid for motorcycle taxi riders, TNVS drivers, jeepney drivers, and delivery service drivers next week. The DSWD and the Department of Transportation are still studying whether to increase the aid for public utility jeepney drivers. –Mariel Celine Serquiña/NB, GMA Integrated News
