Body found in Pasig matches description of missing Grade 9 student — police
Authorities discovered the body of an unidentified female inside a private compound in Barangay Santolan, Pasig City on Monday.
In a statement on Tuesday, Pasig City Police said the corpse matched the description of a teenager who was recently reported missing.
“The discovery was part of an ongoing investigation and follow-up operations by the Special Investigating Team of Pasig City Police Station relative to a recently reported missing minor,” the police said.
“Initial investigation at the scene found a decomposing female body, fitting the description of the reported missing minor,” it added.
Pasig Emergency Unit conducted an initial medical assessment followed by the Eastern Police District (EPD) Forensic Unit which carried out the technical investigation.
“The cadaver will be subjected to autopsy examination to determine the exact cause of death and DNA analysis and dental record check to confirm the identity of the cadaver,” the police said.
National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) spokesperson Police Major Hazel Asilo earlier said the Grade 9 student was last seen on March 18 in Barangay Santolan after informing her father that she would meet classmates.
The case was reported on March 19, and authorities have since been conducting interviews with family members, relatives, and classmates.
Police also conducted backtracking operations and coordinated with the cybercrime unit for technical investigation. —RF, GMA Integrated News
