Delivery riders in Metro Manila receive cash aid from DSWD
The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) on Thursday began distributing cash assistance to delivery riders in Metro Manila as fuel prices continue to climb due to the Middle East tensions.
“Dito sa Kartilya ng Katipunan sa Maynila, dagsa na ang delivery riders na kukuha ng kanilang P5,000 tulong-pinansyal,” DSWD - National Capital Region said in an update.
(Here at the Katipunan Kartilya in Manila, delivery riders are already flocking to claim their P5,000 financial assistance.)
The validation process was conducted early in coordination with the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) and the Manila local government before distributing the assistance.
Aside from the Manila site, other payout areas across Metro Manila have also started distributing the assistance.
Over 137,700 delivery riders in Metro Manila will receive P5,000 each under DSWD’s Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situations (AICS) program on Thursday, Friday, and Monday.
Delivery riders are advised to check their names, payout schedules, and assigned sites through the official list released by the LTFRB.
Those not included in the initial list will be accommodated in a special payout schedule.
According to the DSWD, beneficiaries must present their original driver’s license and a photocopy for the payout.
The cash assistance payout for tricycle drivers in Metro Manila started on March 17, transport network vehicle service (TNVS) drivers on Tuesday, and jeepney drivers on Wednesday.
Motorcycle taxi drivers, meanwhile, are expected to receive the cash aid on Saturday.
The AICS program for affected transport workers will expand nationwide after Holy Week, the DSWD earlier said. —VAL, GMA Integrated News
