No foul play seen in death of missing Grade 9 student —Pasig police
There was no indication of foul play in the death of a Grade 9 student who was earlier reported missing in Pasig City, according to the police on Thursday.
At a press briefing, the Pasig City Police said findings at the scene and initial forensic assessment point away from any criminal involvement.
“As established by the recovered evidence, corroborated by the statement of her friends and classmates, and further reports supported by the letters she sent to them, which contain indications of a farewell or goodbye message,” Pasig's assistant chief of police for operations Police Major Loreto Tigno said.
“Furthermore, the autopsy revealed no sign of foul play,” he added.
Police said the 15-year-old girl was last seen on March 18 entering a mall in Marikina before walking toward a dark portion of a vacant lot in the compound of Light Rail Transit Line 2 (LRT-2) in Santolan.
She was alone and no one was following her, according to the police.
After being reported missing on March 19, her remains were later found on March 23 in a secluded area near the compound following an ocular inspection.
The police also noted that an item used by the student before her death was recovered from the scene. It was allegedly purchased by the student before the incident.
Her father personally attended the press briefing and urged the public to refrain from criticizing authorities because, according to him, the police responded promptly to the case.—AOL, GMA Integrated News
