MMDA suspends number coding scheme from April 1 to April 3

The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) announced that the number coding scheme will be suspended from 12 noon of Holy Wednesday, April 1 until Good Friday, April 3.

“Planuhin ang biyahe at mag-ingat sa pagmamaneho,” said MMDA in an advisory.

Meanwhile, the MMDA started preparations for the expected Holy Week exodus or people going to the provinces.

The MMDA and Metro Manila mayors on Tuesday approved a resolution exempting fuel trucks and cargo trucks carrying essential goods from the number coding scheme and truck ban.

MMDA General Manager Undersecretary Nicolas Torre III also said at least 2,476 personnel will be deployed on major roads, transportation hubs, and other key areas in Metro Manila during the Holy Week.

“We will enforce a no day-off and no-absent policy for all traffic and field personnel when heavy traffic is expected due to the Holy Week exodus,” said Torre. — Vince Angelo Ferreras/BAP, GMA Integrated News
