Police obtain info on motorist who fled QC gas station
The Philippine National Police (PNP) has obtained details about the motorist who fled without paying at a gas station along EDSA in Quezon City, which was caught in a CCTV footage.
“Kausap po natin kanina yung district director ng QCPD. Kasalukuyan po nilang ino-operate. Nasa kanila naman po lahat ng detalye noong sasakyan ng sinasabing nagpagasolina at tumakbo,” PNP spokesperson Police Brigadier General Randulf Tuaño said at a press briefing on Friday.
(We spoke to the QCPD district director earlier. They are currently operating. They have all the details of the vehicle that allegedly filled up with gas and fled.)
According to Tuaño, the Quezon City Police District (QCPD) is currently conducting follow-up operations against the involved motorist.
Tuaño said the act of refueling without paying can be considered estafa.
PNP chief Police General Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. ordered cops to strengthen coordination with gasoline stations to prevent similar incidents.
Early morning on March 22, a motorist allegedly fled after getting a full tank of diesel at a gas station along EDSA in Quezon City.
A 22-year-old pump attendant said the driver initially asked if diesel was available before requesting a full tank. After refueling, the motorist suddenly sped off without paying.
The attendant attempted to chase the vehicle and even rode a motorcycle taxi to track down the suspect along EDSA but was unsuccessful.
The unpaid fuel amounted to P5,196.45.
Follow-up operations are ongoing against the suspect.
Police have reached out to the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) and the Land Transportation Office (LTO) to identify the driver. —VAL, GMA Integrated News
