Authorities are tracking down the driver of a multipurpose vehicle who fueled up at a Quezon City gas station and fled without paying.

According to a report by John Consulta on 24 Oras Weekend, the incident occurred early Sunday morning when a multi-purpose vehicle stopped at a gasoline station along EDSA and requested a full tank of diesel.

However, the driver suddenly sped off without settling the ₱5,196 fuel bill, leaving the pump attendant unable to catch up.

Police Brig. Gen. Randy Silvio, Quezon City Police District (QCPD) director, said investigators conducted backtracking operations and were able to trace the white vehicle through CCTV footage.

Police said the vehicle was last seen in Manila around midnight along United Nations Avenue before proceeding toward Commonwealth Avenue in Quezon City.

Silvio urged the suspect to surrender and explain his actions before the case escalates.

“As our investigation progresses, we are getting closer to identifying the suspect. We are well-coordinated with the LTO (Land Transportation Office), MMDA (Metro Manila Development Authority), and we are utilizing NCAP (No Contact Apprehension Program),” he said.

“We have also coordinated with (the management of) NLEX and SLEX,” Silvio added.

Meanwhile, police officers at La Loma Police Station 1 pooled contributions to help the gas station attendant cover the cost of the stolen fuel.

The investigation is ongoing, according to police.—MCG, GMA Integrated News
