LTO summons motorist who pulled out gun in Taytay road rage
The Land Transportation Office (LTO) has summoned the driver of a pick-up truck who allegedly brandished a gun during a traffic altercation in Taytay, Rizal over the weekend.
In a statement, the LTO said it issued a show cause order (SCO) against the pick-up truck driver after receiving a report of the Taytay Municipal Police Station over the road rage incident that happened on March 29 along Manila East Road.
The driver allegedly pelted another vehicle with a plastic bottle and even blocked the other vehicle’s path.
He also allegedly confronted the other vehicle’s passengers with inappropriate remarks and even reportedly brandished a firearm.
The LTO summoned the pick-up truck driver to a hearing on April 8, 1 p.m. at the LTO Intelligence and Investigation Division (IID) office.
The driver and the registered owner of the pick-up truck were ordered to submit a sworn comment or explanation and supporting original documents.
They should explain why the respondent’s driver’s license should not be suspended or revoked for being an improper person to operate a motor vehicle.
The pick-up truck was placed under an LTO alarm while the driver’s license of the respondent was preventively suspended for 90 days.
The LTO warned that failure to appear during the hearing or submit their explanation will mean that they are waiving their right to be heard, and that the case will be resolved based on available evidence. — JMA, GMA News
