‘Gas-and-run’ driver apologizes, seeks to settle with attendant for unpaid fuel
The driver who fled after getting a full tank of diesel at a gasoline station in Quezon City without paying said he is sorry for his actions and offered to settle the cost.
According to Sandra Aguinaldo’s report in “24 Oras” on Tuesday, the suspect is now under the custody of the La Loma Police a week after the incident.
The man said he deeply regrets his actions and apologized for what he did. He claimed that he was struggling at the time and had almost no money to bring home because of the high price of fuel.
“I did that because my child is graduating and I need to bring home some money. I’m very sorry for what I did….Our earnings just go toward diesel. We have almost nothing left to bring home,” said the suspect who claimed that he only earns P100 to 150 after paying for fuel.
But what about the gas attendant who had P5,000 deducted from his salary to cover the unpaid diesel?
“He did what he did and he should take responsibility,” the pump attendant said.
The suspect said that he is willing to settle the matter with the gas station attendant.
But the police maintained that the driver would still be charged for estafa. —Vince Angelo Ferreras/RF, GMA News
