Police arrested a former supervisor of a gas station on Taft Avenue, Manila, for alleged robbery of some P57 million earnings of the company.

The suspect was nabbed by the Manila Police District in front of a condominium in Parañaque following a complaint filed by the agency where she formerly worked.

According to the complaint, the suspect started working at the gas station in March 2024. After a year, the agency began to notice discrepancies in the financial reports submitted by the suspect.

"We have a roving auditor who discovered her illegal transactions," the complainant said.

"For example, out of the total P800,000 sales for a day, she would deposit only P200,000 and falsify the rest of the amount," the complainant added.

The suspect's colleagues also noticed her changed lifestyle, which does not complement her monthly earnings.

"She is only earning P21,000 or P22,000. But based on her social media posts, she has expensive bags, a car and lives in a condominium unit," the complainant said.

The complainant said they asked the suspect to report to the office to explain, but failed to do so until she eventually left her job.

The agency said it was prompted to file a complaint when the owner of the gas station started looking for the missing earnings.

It was later learned that the suspect is facing a similar complaint for theft in another gas station where she was previously employed.

The suspect remains in the custody of the Manila police. She refused to give a statement.

But according to the police, the suspect denied the complaint against her.

She is facing 60 counts of qualified theft, but these could possibly increase to over a hundred counts, and over 300 counts of falsification of documents. —LDF, GMA News
