No threats monitored in Metro Manila for Holy Week —NCRPO
National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) chief Police Major General Anthony Aberin on Wednesday said no threats have been monitored in Metro Manila in the observance of the Holy Week.
“Tuloy-tuloy din po yung monitoring natin. We assure you at this point in time, wala pa pong direktang banta sa seguridad dito po sa Metro Manila,” Aberin said in AN ambush interview during his inspection at transport hubs.
(Our monitoring is ongoing. We assure you at this point in time, there is no direct threat to security here in Metro Manila.)
For the Holy Week, 13,000 PNP personnel have been deployed across Metro Manila. More personnel including barangay tanods and volunteer groups will augment the police force.
They will maintain safety in terminals, churches, and other public areas.
“Yung pananamantala ay palagi po ang ating kapulisan dyan na nagbabantay to make sure na ligtas ang ating mga kababayan, lalong-lalo na po yung ating mga kababayan na bibiyahe,” Aberin said.
(Our police are always there watching to make sure that our countrymen are safe from crimes, especially our countrymen who are traveling.)
He reminded the public to secure their homes while away on vacation and, if possible, entrust them to their neighbors.
Citizens encountering danger or emergencies are advised to dial 911 for response expected within five minutes.
No criminal incidents have been reported so far at terminals or public gathering spots. Aberin attributed this to the presence of police and barangay personnel in these areas. —VAL, GMA News
