P4M worth of drugs seized, 72 arrested in 24-hour Metro Manila ops — NCRPO
The National Capital Region Police Office seized more than P4 million worth of shabu and arrested 72 individuals in a series of anti-drug operations across Metro Manila in 24 hours.
In a statement Thursdy, the NCRPO said the operations were conducted from 6:00 a.m. on April 1 to 5:59 a.m. on April 2.
Authorities confiscated a total of 584.95 grams of suspected shabu and 17.56 grams of kush, with a combined estimated value of ₱4,004,000.
In a buy-bust operations in Makati, two alleged high-value individuals (HVIs) were arrested in Barangay Singkamas. Police recovered around 500 grams of shabu worth P3.4 million, along with buy-bust money, mobile phones, and drug packaging materials.
Authorities said the operation prevented the distribution of a significant volume of illegal drugs in Metro Manila.
NCRPO chief Anthony Aberin said the results highlight the effectiveness of their intelligence-driven strategy in combating illegal drugs.
“This successful operation highlights the strength of our intelligence-driven approach. Under the leadership of PNP chief Police General Jose Melencio Nartatez, NCRPO will continue to hit the heart of the illegal drug trade, taking down drug pushers before they can harm our communities,” Aberin said.
The Philippine National Police said it will continue intensified operations against illegal drugs in Metro Manila through strengthened intelligence gathering and coordination among police units.
The NCRPO added that the goal is not only to arrest street-level suspects but also to dismantle drug networks operating in the region.—Sherylin Untalan/AOL, GMA News
