The Manila Electric Company (Meralco) has announced scheduled power interruptions in several areas in Metro Manila and nearby provinces from April 2 to 5, 2026 to give way to maintenance work, line upgrades, and facility inspections.

The affected outages will mostly impact industrial sites and select facilities, although residents in nearby areas may also experience temporary interruptions.

Cavite (General Trias) – April 3

In General Trias, power will be interrupted between 7:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m., and 7:00 a.m. and 7:30 p.m. in parts of circuits supplying facilities in Barangay San Francisco. Plants affected include Purefoods–Hormel in Sitio De Fuego. Meralco said the outage is due to maintenance work inside its Cavite plant.

Manila (Tondo) – April 3

In Manila, specifically in Tondo, power interruptions are scheduled from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The International Container Terminal Services, Inc. (ICTSI) along MICT Road is affected. The activity will involve line reconstruction work in the area.

Batangas (Sto. Tomas) – April 2 to 5

In Santo Tomas, outages will run continuously from 5:00 a.m. on April 2 until 5:00 a.m. on April 5 in portions of circuits serving the First Philippine Industrial Park (FPIP).

Affected facilities include Ibiden plants located in Barangay Sta. Anastacia. The interruption is part of maintenance activities within the industrial park.

Caloocan – overnight outage

In Caloocan, power will be cut from 11:00 p.m. on April 2 until 5:00 a.m. on April 3 in Sitio Gitna and nearby areas. The outage will affect facilities inside an industrial compound and is scheduled for maintenance work at the Meralco Sitio Gitna substation.

Meralco said the scheduled interruptions are necessary to ensure the reliability and safety of its power distribution system. —Sherylin Untalan/RF, GMA News
