Holy Week 2026: Nazareno procession ends after over 13 hours on Good Friday
The procession of the Jesus Nazareno image for Holy Week 2026 concluded after more than 13 hours on Good Friday, according to the Quiapo Church.
Based on the church's monitoring, the procession had an official running time of 13 hours, 18 minutes, and 37 seconds.
The procession began at 11:33 p.m. on Maundy Thursday and ended at 12:51 p.m. on Good Friday, the Quiapo Church said.
A total of 517,650 devotees participated in the procession.
According to Quiapo Church, 397 medical-related incidents were reported during the procession.
The Quiapo Church earlier said the procession was led by Hijos del Nazarenos, who serve as guardians of the holy image, and the faithful "Mamamasan" or bearers of the statue.
"The whole Good Friday morning procession reminds the bitterness of the passion of Christ, from the carrying of His cross until the three painful hours being crucified at the cross and up to His death," church officials said. — VDV, GMA News
