SUV in hit-and-run incident allegedly seen entering Malacañang Park
An SUV that hit a rider on Friday morning allegedly drove towards Malacañang Park, where the Presidential Security Command (PSC) is located.
According to a "24 Oras" report by Sandra Aguinaldo on Friday, the incident occurred early morning at the corner of UN Avenue and Quirino Avenue.
Witnesses said that the victim was waiting at a stoplight when the speeding SUV hit him.
Several parts of his motorcycle and the SUV were scattered on the road due to the strong impact.
“May humaharurot po na SUV na di na namin napansin kung ano yung brand. Pero diyan siya, dumirediretso lang. Nabangga niya yung rider tapos huminto lang siya sandali,” shared the witness.
(There was a speeding SUV; we didn’t see the brand, but he was driving straight through there. He hit the rider and just stopped for a little while.)
Other witnesses followed the vehicle, which was allegedly seen entering the Malacañang Park.
The Manila Police District said it is investigating the incident, while representatives of the PSC visited and offered assistance to the victim, who is recovering at a private hospital in Manila.
Neither the victim’s family nor the PSC has issued any statements on the matter.
“Law applies to all. Wala naman pinapanigan, whether kung miyembro ba 'yan ng kapulisan, miyembro ba 'yan ng AFP o kung ano man 'yan. Ang sa atin dito, kung meron siyang paglabag sa batas, dapat ka managot. Mahaharap siya sa posibleng reklamo na reckless imprudence resulting in damage to property and injuries,” MPD spokesperson Major Philipp Ines said.
