2 suspects nabbed in slay of ex-policewoman in Valenzuela
Two suspects were arrested in the fatal shooting of a former police officer in Barangay Malinta, Valenzuela City over the weekend.
Police said the 38-year-old victim was identified as a former member of the Philippine National Police, and a resident of Valenzuela City. The incident occurred at around 12:10 AM on April 4, 2026, at the victim’s house.
Initial investigation revealed the victim instructed witnesses to fetch two unidentified men from a nearby basketball court and bring them to her residence.
Inside the house, the victim was talking on a mobile phone when one of the suspects shot the victim on the right temple, resulting in her immediate death. The suspects fled on foot, taking an undetermined amount of cash from the victim and the gun used in the crime.
In response, Valenzuela City police conducted an immediate probe. A Special Investigation Team (SIT) was created, led by Police Major Randy Llanderal, under the direct supervision of P/Colonel Joseph Talento, the Chief of Police.
Using CCTV backtracking, police discovered that prior to the incident, the suspects arrived in the area onboard a silver Toyota Vios and were met by two men later identified as alias “Tio” and alias “Rab.” Further investigation revealed that both were instructed by another suspect, known as alias “Men,” to fetch the said two unidentified suspects.
Investigators determined “Men”, who allegedly instructed the two suspects who were in the victim's home, as behind the killing. Based on this information, cops arrested Men and Tio in separate operations in the city on Saturday afternoon.
Recovered from Tio’s possession were a .38 caliber revolver without serial number and live ammunition, approximately 55.28 grams of shabu valued at P375,904, along with drug paraphernalia.
“Authorities are currently conducting a ballistic and firearms examination to determine whether the recovered firearm was used in the commission of the crime. Verification with the Firearms and Explosives Office (FEO) is also underway to establish the legality of the firearm,” Valenzuela Police said.
Aside from murder, the suspects will be charged with violating Republic Act 10591, the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act, and Section 11 of Republic Act 9165, concerning illegal possession of dangerous drugs.
