Phase 1 of the EDSA rehabilitation is nearing completion nearly two months ahead of schedule, the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) said, as it prepares to begin bidding for Phase 2 this April.

“Masaya tayo kasi practically 'yung ating daanan ng sasakyan for Phase 1 mula Roxas Boulevard hanggang Orense ay tapos na. Halos two months ahead of schedule tayo dito,” DPWH Secretary Vince Dizon said.

(We are happy because the roadworks for Phase 1, from Roxas Boulevard to Orense, are practically finished. We are almost two months ahead of schedule.)

Dizon made the statement following roadworks carried out during Holy Week.

“Ngayon, April, magpapabid na tayo ng Phase 2. Hindi natin kinokompromiso ang quality nito at mararamdaman ito ng mga motorista natin,” he added.

(This April, we will begin bidding for Phase 2. We are not compromising its quality, and motorists will feel the improvement.)

The DPWH implemented a reblocking system at the Roxas Boulevard-EDSA intersection in Pasay City, marking the start of the rehabilitation on December 24, 2025.

Dizon earlier said overlay works would be conducted on portions of the southbound lane of EDSA, from Orense in Makati to Laurins Street in Pasay, to be carried out lane by lane.
