A total of 87 individuals in Quezon City were accosted, received tickets, and apprehended for violating curfew and other ordinances during Oplan Galugad operations Monday evening.

According to a report of GMA News’ James Agustin on Unang Balita on Tuesday, this was following the launch of the Department of the Interior and Local Government’s (DILG) Safer Cities Initiative Plan.

The Quezon City Police District (QCPD) conducted late-night patrols starting in Barangay Gulod in Novaliches.

A total of 19 minors were found on the streets past curfew hours and brought to the barangay hall along with their parents or guardians. Social workers were also tapped to coordinate with families.

Some of the minors apprehended were reportedly not residents of the area. Some of them came from Las Piñas and Caloocan.

Authorities also accosted five men for roaming shirtless in public, while one individual was caught drinking on the street.

Similar operations were carried out by Laloma Police in Barangays Apolonio Samson and Manresa, where 13 shirtless individuals and seven minors violating curfew were recorded.

Meanwhile, 34 others were cited for traffic-related violations.

In Cubao, several men were also accosted for going shirtless in public spaces.

Police said the operations are part of a broader effort to strictly enforce local ordinances, including curfew regulations for minors, bans on public drinking, and prohibitions against roaming shirtless in public areas.

Violators were issued violation tickets and may face fines ranging from P1,000 to P5,000, depending on the offense.

Most of those apprehended were later released after being issued citations.

However, some minors remain under the custody of barangay authorities pending coordination with their parents or guardians.—Joviland Rita/AOL, GMA News
