The two suspects behind the robbery of a female rider in Manila on early Tuesday were arrested.

According to Ian Cruz’s report on “24 Oras”, the female rider was robbed by two men, who were armed with a knife, while at a stoplight along Mel Lopez Boulevard in Tondo, Manila.

They forcefully grabbed the victim’s belongings before fleeing.

Manila Mayor Isko Moreno Domagoso presented the suspects to the public. The victim was also present and got emotional.

“Please bear with us; there are still those bold, foolish troublemakers who want to test Manila, but I am happy you are safe more than anything else,” the mayor said as he tried to comfort the victim.

The mayor asked the crying victim to confirm before the public if the two arrested men were the suspects who robbed her.

“I heard their voices earlier and they were the ones,” she said.

The victim will file charges against the suspect after the trauma and injury that her nephew experienced.

“I hope they rot in jail because the trauma they caused is so painful. Even my mother is worried about me…I hope they stay imprisoned. I will never forgive them,” she said.

The Manila Police District said the suspects made off with the victim's cellphone and P20,000 cash, which was intended for paying bills.

They pointed to a certain "alias Dodong" as the person to whom they handed over the stolen cellphone and money.

“Their robbery was premeditated, and our follow-up operations are currently ongoing to capture alias Dodong,” said MPD spokesperson Major Philipp Ines.

Charges of robbery are being prepared against the suspects.

“I did that because I was in deep need…I just want to see my child. To the victim, I’m sorry. I hope she can forgive me,” one of the suspects said. —Vince Angelo Ferreras/LDF, GMA News
