Robbers target eTAP machines of grocery stores
Authorities have arrested an individual allegedly linked to a series of robberies targeting electronic payment kiosks, commonly known as eTAP (electronic transfer advanced processing) machines, in several grocery stores in Quezon City.
According to a "24 Oras" report by Marisol Abdurahman, two suspects remain at large and are being hunted down, police said.
Police records show that robbers have been focusing specifically on the machines, as seen in the video footage of the incidents in La Lola, North Fairview and Cubao in March.
"Kung hindi nila sisirain iyong eTAP machine ay pilit nilang kukunin ng buo (If they don't destroy them, they will forcibly take the entire machine)," said Police Brigadier General Glenn Silvo, District Director of the QC Police District.
"We formed a special team, and we tracked them after the two incidents," Silvo said.
"Once we found out the license plate and conduction sticker, we quickly identified them," he added. —LDF, GMA News
