Fire hits Navotas landfill

A fire broke out at the Navotas Sanitary Landfill in Barangay Tanza on Friday evening.

Super Radyo dzBB's Luisito Santos reported that the fire began around 7:56 p.m. It was still ongoing as of 10 p.m.

Personnel from Barangay Dampalit in Malabon said that some residents live near the landfill.

Firefighters had to utilize fireboats since the landfill is located on an island.

The Navotas Sanitary Landfill has been non-operational since August 2025 and was last used as a dumping site for Metro Manila’s garbage. —Jiselle Anne Casucian/VBL, GMA News
