The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) on Monday announced the schedule for the release of ₱5,000 cash assistance for public utility vehicle (PUV) drivers and other transport service workers in Metro Manila who were unable to receive the initial payout.

Schedule of payouts:

  • Tricycle drivers — Tuesday, April 14
  • Jeepney drivers — Wednesday, April 15
  • Transport Network Vehicle Service (TNVS) — Thursday, April 16
  • Motorcycle taxi (MC Taxi) and delivery riders — Friday, April 17

In “Bagong Pilipinas Ngayon,” DSWD spokesperson Irene Dumlao said another round of special payouts for tricycle and jeepney drivers will be held on April 18. MC taxi riders and delivery riders in the National Capital Region will also have another chance on April 18 to 19.

Meanwhile, the special payout for TNVS drivers, MC taxi riders, and delivery riders will be held in the following locations:

  • Caloocan Sports Complex
  • Quezon City Memorial Circle
  • Makati Coliseum
  • TLC Park Concert Grounds (Taguig)

The DSWD said it has coordinated with transport network companies (TNCs) to help inform drivers about their assigned schedules and payout venues.

“We also requested these TNCs to send representatives who are knowledgeable about this cash relief assistance and the processes we undertook, so they can help answer the questions of our drivers,” Dumlao said.

“We also requested that they advise their drivers and members to go only on their scheduled dates and designated payout sites to avoid confusion,” she added.

The DSWD also encouraged drivers to personally appear to claim their cash assistance, noting plans to eventually transition to a digital distribution system.

“What we are trying to prevent here are ghost drivers—those who are not eligible, do not exist, or are not present in their areas, yet someone is claiming for them,” Dumlao said.

“The reason we require physical presence is so that when we shift to digital systems, we have already completed verification, making it easier to use electronic wallets for the distribution of financial aid.”—MCG, GMA News
