As early as Sunday morning, long lines of transport network company riders (TNC) hoping to receive cash aid distribution from government payout centers were observed in Quezon City and Caloocan City.

In Sam Nielsen’s video on Super Radyo dzBB taken at 7:30 am., the line for the special payout outside the Caloocan Sports Complex, was over a kilometer long and still getting longer.

Meanwhile in Quezon City, another video showed the perimeter of the Quezon City Memorial Circle appearing to look like a parking lot as motorcycles occupied one lane as riders waited to receive cash assistance from the Department of Social Welfare and Development.

The financial assistance is being provided to motorcycle taxi and delivery riders who were not included in the earlier list of beneficiaries from the TNC sector.

The DSWD had announced that P5,000 in cash assistance would be distributed to public utility vehicle (PUV) drivers and other transport service workers in Metro Manila who were unable to receive the initial payout. —RF, GMA News
