TRIGGER WARNING: Graphic content involving violence

Authorities found two bloodied men on separate floors of a condominium complex in Tondo, Manila, in an incident where one is believed to have attacked the other.

According to a report by Ian Cruz on “24 Oras” on Monday, one man was found naked and lying on the 8th floor.

A security guard said the victim was still alive when found past 9 p.m. the previous night but was later declared dead on arrival at a hospital.

The Manila Police District (MPD) said the 39-year-old victim sustained head injuries allegedly inflicted by a 27-year-old suspect, who was found bloodied and topless on the 10th floor.

Initial investigation showed that neighbors heard the victim calling for help and saw the suspect inside a condominium unit.

“Humingi ng tulong itong ating biktima kaya nga lumabas itong mga testigo natin at paglabas nila doon, nakita nila sa hallway na itong ating biktima ay duguan na at nakahubad,” MPD spokesperson Police Major Philipp Ines said.

(The victim asked for help, prompting witnesses to come out, and they saw him in the hallway already bloodied and naked.)

After reporting the incident to building security, witnesses later saw the suspect on the ground floor, also covered in blood.

“Nagulat sila pagbaba nila; may nakita sila roon na nakakagulo, at nakita nila na parehong tao—yung nakita nila sa 8th floor ay nandoon na sa baba at sinabing tumalon ito,” Ines said.

(They were surprised when they went down and saw the same person from the 8th floor already on the ground floor, who was said to have jumped.)

Police are still investigating the circumstances involving the suspect.

“Nanghiram siya ng martilyo sa kanyang hipag. May na-recover tayong martilyo sa crime scene, at pinoproseso na ito ng forensic unit bilang ebidensya,” Ines said.

(He borrowed a hammer from his sister-in-law. A hammer was recovered at the crime scene and is now being processed by the forensic unit as evidence.)

Ines said authorities are looking into the possibility of a crime of passion.

“Ganoon pa man, kumakalap pa rin tayo ng iba pang ebidensya. Isa lang iyon sa mga anggulong tinitingnan natin—na maaaring may relasyon ang biktima at ang suspect,” he said.

(We are still gathering other evidence. That is just one of the angles we are looking into—that the victim and the suspect may have had a relationship.)

Both the victim and the suspect were residents of the condominium complex but lived in different buildings.

Their bodies have been brought to a funeral home for an autopsy.

Meanwhile, the suspect’s family and the condominium management declined to comment but said they are cooperating with authorities.—Mariel Celine Serquiña/MCG, GMA News
