MMDA launches ‘Yes to Ayos’ campaign for orderly communities

The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) on Wednesday soft-launched its “Yes to Ayos: Disiplina" campaign in Malabon, which promotes discipline and civic responsibility among residents.

MMDA chairperson Romando Artes described the initiative as “more than just a slogan,” calling it a collective movement that urges Filipinos to embrace accountability and shared responsibility.

“Through this campaign, we say ‘yes’ to orderly streets, cleaner surroundings, safer neighborhoods, and a more livable Metro Manila for all,” Artes said.

“It reminds us that simple, everyday acts of discipline such as proper waste disposal, following traffic rules and regulations, respecting public spaces, can lead to meaningful and lasting change,” he added.

Officials unveiled a “Yes to Ayos Code” consisting of 10 simple good habits:

  • Using designated pedestrian crossings
  • Following traffic rules and regulations
  • Keeping sidewalks free of obstructions
  • Practicing the 4Rs – Refuse, Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle
  • Not burning garbage
  • Being prepared for emergencies or disasters
  • Not smoking or vaping
  • Proper queueing
  • Being on time
  • Being polite and respectful

As part of the campaign, the MMDA introduced “Lola Daisy Plina” as its official mascot to encourage the public to adopt good habits.

Yes to Ayos will also integrate two key MMDA programs: Bayanihan sa Barangay and Bayanihan sa Estero.

Malabon Mayor Jeannie Sandoval said the initiative carries a simple but meaningful message that calls for discipline, accountability, and concern for others.

“Sa Malabon, hindi na bago ang ganitong diwa (ng disiplina). Ngayon, mas pinalalakas natin ito, hindi lang bilang proyekto ng gobyerno kundi bilang kultura ng bawat Malabueño,” she said.

(In Malabon, this spirit of discipline is not new. Now, we are strengthening it more, not just as a government project but as the culture of every Malabueño.)

"In order to properly implement this campaign, we need the unity of citizens. ‘Yes to Ayos’ is not only a slogan but it's also the constant decisions we make everyday,” she added. —VAL, GMA News
