Taguig-Makati incident not road rage or robbery but multiple-vehicle collision
The Philippine National Police (PNP) on Monday said the recent vehicular incident along Chino Roces in the Taguig-Makati area was not a case of road rage or robbery but a multiple-vehicle collision.
“Clarify lang po namin. The video circulated online on April 24, 2026 involving multiple vehicle collision along Chino Roces in Taguig and Makati was a vehicular accident,” Makati City Police chief Police Colonel Pedro Alagano Jr. said at a press briefing.
(We just want to clarify. The video circulating online on April 24, 2026 involving multiple vehicle collision along Chino Roces in Taguig and Makati was a vehicular accident.)
“Hindi po siya robbery-holdup or a road rage accident (This was not a robbery-holdup or a road rage accident),” he added.
The incident occurred at around 7 p.m. near a gasoline station along Chino Roces Avenue in Barangay Fort Bonifacio, Taguig City.
Investigation showed that a sedan slowed down to make a left turn when it was rear-ended by a pickup vehicle. The impact pushed the car into the opposite lane, where it collided with a motorcycle.
The motorcycle rider sustained injuries but was immediately given medical assistance.
Police said the pick-up vehicle fled the scene and proceeded toward Makati, where it was intercepted along Chino Roces Extension in Barangay Magallanes after colliding with another vehicle.
The parties directly involved have since reached an amicable settlement.
The viral video showed two individuals allegedly brandishing a firearm and slashing a vehicle’s tires.
Authorities said police in Taguig and Makati have conducted CCTV backtracking and found out that the person who punctured the tire was a relative of the sedan driver. The person with a firearm has yet to be identified. —AOL, GMA News
