17 arrested over 'illegal' LPG refilling, rebranding in Caloocan — NCRPO

The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) on Saturday arrested 17 individuals for the alleged illegal refilling and rebranding liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) tanks in Sta. Quiteria Road, Caloocan City.

According to Carlo Mateo's report on Super Radyo dzBB, the arrests were the result of a police raid on the company compound where the 17 persons worked.

Armed with a search warrant, the police also conducted an inventory of confiscated items at the site, including equipment for rebranding and refilling, empty LPG tanks, paint, and a tanker.

A representative from a petroleum company was on hand during the operation.

Officials of the NCRPO were quoted as saying that the involved parties may be liable under Section 43 of Republic Act 11592, or the LPG Industry Regulation Act.

Rebranding and refilling of LPG tanks may pose fire risks and other safety hazards if the operations do not comply with government standards, the NCRPO said.

The radio report said a representative of the raided firm declined to provide a statement on the matter. — VDV, GMA News
