Fire hits PUP Sta. Mesa main building; several classes suspended

Classes were suspended at the Main Academic Building of the Polytechnic University of the Philippines (PUP) Sta. Mesa on Tuesday due to a fire incident.

In an advisory past 3 p.m. on Tuesday afternoon, the school management said the fire is already under control.

"Rest assured that the situation is already under control and the fire has been extinguished," the advisory read.

Further, the school advised students to exit the university premises.

"This is to ensure protection from possible harmful smoke or air contaminants caused by the incident," the advisory added.

It clarified that PUP's College of Law, College of Human Kinetics (night classes), Lab High and Senior High, COC, CE, ITech, M.H. Del Pilar Buildings are not included in the announcement. — VDV, GMA News
