A power outage that affected about 2,800 Meralco customers was caused by a mixer truck that got caught in low lying cable wires of a utility pole in Pasig City on Tuesday, according to the report of Dano Tingcungco on "Saksi."

According to Meralco, the truck dragged telco cable wires that were attached to a post. The post, meanwhile, fell on three motorcycles, two tricycles, and a closed van.

There was a report of one person injured, but was immediately given medical attention.

The incident that ocurred around 2 p.m. on Tuesday caused traffic congestion along Sandoval Avenue in Barangay Pinagbuhatan and Barangay Nagpayong in Pasig City, said Kagawad Arcie Lucas of Barangay Pinagbuhatan.

The driver of the mixer truck, Reymark Picasa, said he didn't realize that there were hanging cables that got caught and were dragged by his vehicle.

Personnel sent over by Meralco have been working on clearing the street and restoring power to the area.

Lucas said that he was told by Meralco personnel that the work to replace the post, re-attach the cable wires, restore power could take up to 10 hours.

He added that barangay, city and police personnel have been working together to manage the flow of vehicles in the area.
